This year Liz Cartledge (Ryslip) organised the International Junior Handling Competition at Crufts. (She has previously judged Best In Show at Crufts) She selected Chiqui to represent the breed as the young Austrian handler Sandra Burger requested a Havanese. The competition has 32 handlers who are the best in their respective countries who visit Crufts to compete for the International Title. The handlers may request a breed that they are familiar with for the first round, after which, the dogs are reallocated by lots so that the handlers are seen with a dog that they have only met 2 minutes before form a breed that is not as familiar to them.
It was marvellous seeing Chiqui in the Special Events Ring at Crufts. She was very good, especially considering that she was in the ring for approximately 2 hours. She also had to attend the parade in the Main Ring before the Best in Show competition.
